Cute Laurie (Charlotte Laurier) is an accomplished cyclist and champion of the mountain bike circuit. After ten years at the top, she falters for two seconds at the start of an important race and loses. Her boss forces her to retire, but lets her keep one bike. She is now lost in the big wide world outside the competition circuit, and has to fend for herself. Moving to Montreal, she finds work as a bike courier, and soon impresses and threatens her colleagues with her speed and obsessive love of cycling. While out on a ride, her chain breaks. she finds a quaint, tucked-away repair shop, and meets the idiosyncratic owner, Lorenzo (Dino Tavarone), who was himself a cycling champion in the sixties. Lorenzo questions, for the first time in her life, her knowledge, and perceptions of cycling. Over time, friendship and understanding develop between the two ex-champions. They discover they even have similar taste in women...
